I am happy to be a spokesperson for this event. This festival is an important place for encounter and exploration, a platform for individual and social transformation. It’s a common space where one can witness and feel the richness of the creative research that is blazing in Quebec, both in its cities and its countryside. It harbours an abundance of creativity that few institutions are able to take stock of and that the official media do not see or do not really listen to. One can observe these days, with lucidity and sadness, in what way a political regime can control public space and speech.
But there are spaces like the OFFTA where this wealth on a human scale can spread beyond economic stakes and crude manipulations. It spreads through the internal workshop of thousands of women and men, in everyday life, on kitchen tables, in domestic workshops, in the streets, in our classrooms and in our offices. It spreads in the courageous minds of those who’ve understood that consciousness is more important than status. It is those people who, through their multiple and sincere processes, animate our cities and our hearts. These artistic processes of liberation are also there to open our minds and our hearts.
May this festival reveal, in a sensitive way, our real wealth and the social transformations that inhabit us and move us.
People in power, wherever you are, do not underestimate our intentions, for you will hear our deep reverberations under your feet. For one doesn’t communicate with one’s children or friends using clubs and lies.
