Angélus

Angélus is a touring sound installation for milk truck and twelve independent speakers. It was created to catch us unaware, to pique the curiosity of passersby and infiltrate our daily lives. The contraption will be leaving Quebec City on May 28, taking the scenic routes and side roads, sounding its bell through a string of towns and villages before finally reaching Montreal on June 6. Throughout the ten days of the festival, performers will post daily updates on their online travel journal, documenting the everyday splendours and misfortunes of their journey.

In 2002, when L’orchestre d’hommes-orchestres was founded in Quebec City, the group’s members had no idea they were actually building a springboard for the performing arts. Unclassifiable and bordering on several artistic disciplines, L’ODHO first made its mark with the concert-events Performs Tom Waits. Since, more than 15 original productions, for the stage or public spaces, have followed. L’ODHO has presented productions in over 90 cities in some 20 countries in Europe, America and Oceania.
