Looking Askance utilizes the use of in-camera analog techniques in order to alter the photographic image and skew the viewer’s understanding of reality. By manipulating lighting and exposure techniques a ghost motif is conveyed throughout the series, which re-visits and satirizes the believability of early Spirit Photography of the 1860’s.
