This talk brings together Alegría Gobeil, Sarah Chouinard-Poirier and Geneviève Matthieu to reflect on the concept of the imaginary as a space for resistance and reinvention. Their works presented at OFFTA weave new realities that draw on numerous references to art history and hegemonic culture, revealing alternative worlds and offering new horizons that challenge dominant narratives. The conversation, moderated by JJ Houle, author, performer and co-curator of this year’s festival, explores with the artists the mechanisms that enable them to perform this alchemy of perspectives, crucial for understanding worlds such as the psychiatric system and the art world.
