FANM: prier sur le ring

Standing on a stage, a pastor is preparing to deliver a speech. At first grandiose, the statuesque body gives in to fractured movements, at once human and creature-like, as doubt arises and this character’s beliefs are transformed.

Based on an exchange of memories between performer and choreographer, this work in progress is a nostalgic and complex exploration of the Afro-descendant woman’s body. Between the enigmatic and the caricatured representation, what perception can emerge in the observer’s eye?
